For the cultural and artistic development of Abbadia Isola and of the Via Francigena in the municipality of Monteriggioni, Nous Art Gallery in collaboration with Futura Osteria present the ‘TIMELESS ‘exhibition project by the artist Ignazio Fresu, located in the outdoor and indoor spaces of Futura Osteria. From June to November inside the rooms of the restaurant it will be possible to taste the dishes of the chef and admire the works of Fresu, in an atmosphere of suspension that invites a respite from the passing of time, while in the public space adjacent to the tavern, visitors will be able to take part in the interactive installation ‘Gravity’ in a game of equilibrium and disequilibrium, energy and emptiness, which aims to replicate that of the gravity itself in which we are immersed and that, although invisible, permeates and unifies everything.
Per la valorizzazione culturale e artistica di Abbadia Isola e della Via Francigena nel Comune di Monteriggioni, Nous Art Gallery in collaborazione con Futura Osteria presenta il progetto espositivo ‘TIMELESS’ dell’artista Ignazio Fresu, dislocato negli spazi esterni e interni di Futura Osteria. Da giugno a novembre all’interno delle sale del locale sarà possibile degustare i piatti dello chef e ammirare le opere di Fresu, in un’atmosfera di sospensione che invita a una tregua dall’incedere del tempo, mentre nello spazio pubblico adiacente l’osteria, si potrà prendere parte all’installazione interattiva ‘Gravity’ in un gioco di equilibrio e disequilibrio, energia e vuoto, che ambisce a replicare quello della gravità stessa in cui siamo immersi e che, seppure invisibile, tutto permea e unisce.
IGNAZIO FRESU SCULPTURE INSTALLATION PAINTING
Ignazio Fresu was born in Cagliari in 1957. In 1975 he moved to Florence to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. In this city his artistic career began. He has been living and working in Prato for many years. His artistic and exhibition activity is very intense and takes place in Italy and in several foreign countries.
To carry out his works Fresu mainly uses industrial waste and residues of consumer activity; this in order to witness the waste that modern civilization, guided only by the logic of profit, produces uselessly, and the possibility of creating a new world from those mountains of waste.
His creations arise from metal sheets, pipes, industrial residues that are treated with special techniques and subjected to oxidation processes. Among the many exhibitions in which Ignazio Fresu has participated in Italy and abroad is worthy of special mention RE-ART One, a traveling exhibition dedicated to the environment. The thought of the first Greek philosophers (in particular Eraclito), and Gianni Vattimo’s Pensiero Debole constitute the philosophical “carpet” on which the humanism of Ignazio Fresu develops.
Ignazio Fresu è nato a Cagliari nel 1957. Nel 1975 si è trasferito a Firenze per frequentare l’Accademia di Belle Arti. E’ in questa città che ha avuto inizio la sua carriera artistica. Da anni vive e lavora a Prato. La sua attività espositiva è molto intensa e si svolge in Italia e in varie nazioni estere.
Per realizzare le sue opere, Fresu prevalentemente si serve di scarti delle lavorazioni industriali e di residui delle attività di consumo; ciò al fine di testimoniare sia lo spreco che la civiltà moderna, guidata soltanto dalla logica del profitto, produce inutilmente; sia la possibilità di creare da quelle montagne di rifiuti un mondo nuovo.
Le sue creazioni nascono da lamiere di metallo, da tubi, da residui industriali che vengono trattati con tecniche particolari e sottoposti a processi di ossidazione. Tra le molte esposizioni a cui Ignazio Fresu ha partecipato in Italia e all’estero è degna di particolare menziore RE-ART One, mostra itinerante dedicata all’ambiente. Il pensiero dei primi filosofi greci (in particolare quello di Eraclito), e il Pensiero Debole di Gianni Vattimo costituiscono il “tappeto” filosofico su cui si sviluppa l’umanesimo di Ignazio Fresu.
SAMUELE BRAVI CHEF
Samuele Bravi is the chef of Futura Osteria in Abbadia Isola, a small village close to Monteriggioni. Chance lead him to his first ‘kitchen’, but after several steps including experience at the Locanda Solarola with Roy Caceres, he was committed. He moved to Abbadia Isola, choosing to start where had been before the restaurant La leggenda dei Frati. With the strategic support of another great professional, Nicola Saporito, he Embarked on the new adventure of the Futura Osteria, a recreation of the generous Tuscan tavern: simple and tasty ingredients, carefully chosen and treated with the inspiration and rigour of a personal and modern cuisine.
Samuele Bravi è lo chef di Futura Osteria ad Abbadia Isola, una piccola cittadina di Monteriggioni. Il caso lo portò alla “cucina” e dopo diversi passaggi inclusa l’esperienza alla Locanda Solarola con Roy Caceres decise di trasferirsi ad Abbadia Isola, scegliendo di iniziare dove c’era prima il ristorante La leggenda dei Frati. Con il supporto strategico di un altro grande professionista, Nicola Saporito, ha intrapreso la nuova avventura della Futura Osteria, una rinterpretazione della taverna toscana: ingredienti semplici e gustosi, scelti con cura e trattati con l’ispirazione e il rigore di un personale e moderno cucina.
LOCATION ABBADIA ISOLA
Abbadia a Isola, an old hamlet close to Monteriggioni, is one of the most evocative villages in Tuscany. The Benedictine monastery founded at the beginning of 1000 CE and around which the village developed, was built on a patch of land emerging from the Padule del Cannetto, at that time a mix of lake and marsh, on the edge of the Via Francigena, a very busy medieval pilgrimage and trade route.
Rich in history and culture, Abbadia Isola’s vocation has always been hospitality, and even today this charming place has not strayed from its calling. With Futura Osteria, the village discovers the contemporary flavours of traditional Tuscan cuisine in an environment where the ancient architecture recalls the stillness of water and invites to a serene conviviality.
Abbadia a Isola, antico borgo vicino a Monteriggioni, è uno dei borghi più suggestivi della Toscana. Il monastero benedettino fondato all’inizio del 1000 d. C. attorno al quale si sviluppò il villaggio, fu costruito su un appezzamento di terreno che emergeva dal Padule del Cannetto, a quel tempo un misto di lago e palude, ai margini della Via Francigena, a molto frequentato pellegrinaggio medievale e rotta commerciale.
Ricco di storia e cultura, la vocazione di Abbadia Isola è sempre stata l’ospitalità, e ancora oggi questo luogo affascinante non si è allontanato dalla sua vocazione. Con Futura Osteria, il villaggio scopre i sapori contemporanei della cucina tradizionale toscana in un ambiente dove l’architettura antica richiama la quiete dell’acqua e invita ad una serena convivialità.
